Election Day — A Different Focus

I don’t think that Election Tuesday is a national holiday.  I don’t even think it is a holiday.  However, even more so than Halloween, I think of it as our holiday.  We started dating on November 5th, 2002 — the first Tuesday in November, Election Tuesday.  Juliet was, of course, born on the Superest of all Tuesdays, November 4th, 2008. Looking back, I feel like there was no way that she could not have been born on Election Tuesday.  I always think of it as our day.  I cannot think about voting without thinking about going to vote with my mom on Tuesday, November 5th.  I had a starry look in my eye and, standing in her kitchen, I loudly sighed, “I met a boyyyyy”.  I so rarely told my parents about the guys in my life and I never told them about someone so early on.  I was just bursting and I had to let my mom know that I met you, with a major sigh and a big smile.

Since Tuesday, November 5th, 2002, we have witnessed 416 Tuesdays together.  Happy 8 years of us.  Happy, Happy, Happy Election Day, my Jacolas.
